Female vocalist/rhythm guitar, lead guitar/vocalist, bassist/backup vocal, and drummer/background vocals/fiddle are looking for a fifth member for our band, Geezer Nation, to play keyboards and rotate singing lead and harmony.
It is much preferable if you can play at least another instrument. Could be any of the instruments already covered (bass, guitar, percussion, fiddle) or horns. (I don't care, you could play bagpipes or squeeze box as long as you play it well). You should play keyboards first.
Band founders, Dug (percussionist/fiddle) and Lisa (vocalist/guitar) are very experienced accomplished, long time musicians (geezers). Mark (bassist/vocal, geezer) is multi-talented not only with the bass, but with guitar, mandolin and drums.
MunLai (lead guitar/vocals) is an honorary geezer (not sure how old he is - won't divulge - probably early thirties) is an amazing prodigy guitar player and an excellent vocalist.
We are considering adding a fifth member to our band if we can find the right geezer (you can be younger but must play and behave well with others).
We think there is a place for good lively music for dance and entertainment in the Christian / LDS or otherwise clean-seeking community. And we do believe that musicians of this attitude can make some good residual income besides having fun and enjoyment performing.
In this project expect to play locally, regionally or long distance gigs that time and circumstances would permit for those involved. This is NOT a full time, play every week band, however, we will be playing regularly, but not to interfere with our day jobs. You CAN be under 30 yrs old, but MUST BE mature and 'play well with others.' Typically we will be playing wedding/receptions, dances, dinner theaters, community celebrations, concerts, promotions or other venues where alcohol or other negative behaviors do not prevail.
Typically we would be doing four or five sets of covers or original versions of covers. We also play decent originals as well.
Covers would likely range from Beatles, ZZ Top, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Stevie Ray, Robben Ford, Garth Brooks, Wynonna, Reba McEntire, BB King, Patty Loveless, Carlene Carter, Los Lonely Boys, Brian Setzer, Aretha Franklin, Doobie Bros, James Brown, Riders in the Sky, Huey Lewis, Romantics, Vince Gill, Asleep at the Wheel, etc. As you can see, those interested should be well versed in swing/shuffle, blues as well as rock n roll and traditional country.
All joking aside, we are serious, and some here have played in some very seriously good bands with notable musicians from those genres. I would like to see what comes out of the woodwork. As one very good reformed session guy I played with said: "It is most important to be a good person first, and a good musician second."

Although we've been focusing on jazz standards, last year we added a horn section and introduced stuff from Chicago, Doors, James Brown, Stevie Wonder etc... I would like to add a female singer not only able to sing background voices of what we currently play, but also somebody able to perform as lead singer for snappy tunes: jazzy tunes, ABBA, Gloria Gaynor, Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, Madonna and even current top 20 country/pop stuff. No experience required, but please understand that team player attitude is a must.
In addition, I'm looking for a male singer willing to do background voices and possibly sing tunes from Eagles, Queen, the Who and ideally top 20 country/pop. No experience required.
Since we have the horn section, I probably would focus on tunes with horns to take advantage of the brass section and I would avoid ballads for the moment. Usually, we practice Th in the Marion area 7-9pm
Last year we played at the Sweet Corn Festival, Linn County Fair, couple of weddings, cocktail parties , bars and charity events. The full band is not always required.

We are an all original band who gig frequently and are beginning the process of booking a 3 week tour in the fall. We recently released our debut record on vinyl (the 1st batch has sold out). We have aspirations of being more than just an Omaha band. We've got good gear (a good mixture of cool vintage and modern stuff) and know how to use it.
We're looking for a bass player between 20 and 30. Entwhistle, Geezer Butler and John Paul Jones are all good influences to have. We need someone who can really lock in with our drummer and throw in some good fills and be able to feel the mood and groove of our songs.
We ask that you have a job and a car so we know that you're reliable, but we will be touring so hopefully your job has vacation time.
We have tracks and video you can check out. We're all nice guys and we're looking for someone who really loves the music, is easy to get along with and will be in this for the long haul.
If you have any keyboard/organ experience that's a plus.

So far, on board with the project are:
a female vocalist/keyboard player
a synth player
a bass player
2 flute players
an effects/dubmaster/cellist/trumpet player
myself - electric guitar/bass/songwriting (however songwriting will also be collaborative or by anyone who wants)
it will be an open-concept kind of band, where any friends can join (provided they gel with our sound)
Portishead, Tricky, Nightmares on Wax, Lunascape, Morcheeba, Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation; all provide a good base of the sound I'm going for....we'll want to try for being open and experimental, but usually with that bass heavy, real laid back groove.

While I have a great time with the band I am in, and it is great experience, I am now looking to start something that is more towards the direction I would like to go. I have played for about 15 years, and a friend of mine plays bass and has for a couple years now. We currently have several songs recorded as we have recording capabilities in house, but I built all drum tracks with a keyboard, I play all the guitar parts myself, and there is only one or two that I have written vocals for. Now, I do understand that dropping famous band names may imply that we are looking to be a cover band, but I assure you that is not the goal here. Though I do believe covers may be beneficial in the beginning as far as having enough material for an entire set, we do intend to be a completely original band. My inspirations for most of my playing career have been bands like Breaking Benjamin, Killswitch Engage, Times of Grace, All That Remains, Theory of a Deadman, etc. I really like the "lead rhythms" that these bands produce, and these bands portray the energy that I wish to accomplish with this project.
