Synopsis:
Cabaret is a musical based on book by Joe Masteroff, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The 1966 Broadway production became a hit and spawned a 1972 film as well as numerous subsequent productions. Cabaret is based on John Van Druten’s 1951 play I Am a Camera, which in turn was adapted from a novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood. Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, it focuses on nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub and revolves around the 19 year-old English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. A sub-plot involves the doomed romance between German boarding house owner Fraulein Schneider and her elderly suitor Herr Shultz, a Jewish fruit vendor. Our influences include artists like Muse, The Arcade Fire, David Bowie, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Sting and U2. Our sound prominently features strings - violin, viola, and cello.
We're looking for an experienced performer who can fit in with the ensemble - and add her own creativity. The vocals will be mostly harmonies but sometimes lead parts. If you can play another instrument that's a plus but not required.
The band rehearses about once a week and plays out about once a month. This doesn't have to be your only project.

02-03-12 - New York City, NY>Philadelphia, PA - I play the acoustic guitar and am seeking a female singer to form a duo. If you also play the guitar or keyboard, that is great but not required. If you have a knack for writing lyrics, that'd also be great.
My musical influences vary, and my songwriting style tends to mix pop-like hooks with folk sensibility. I've played in fully fledged touring rock bands and I've done the singer-songwriter cafe and open mic circuit as well.
The reason I'm seeking a singer is because I'm not a very good one myself. Please let me know if you'd be interested in meeting, drinking beers and playing some music together. I'm seeking singers between the ages of 21-29. You should be confident enough to sing not only in front of me, but in front of crowds as well. I have access to a legitimate Williamsburg recording studio.
