The musical takes place in 1964 at the beginning of the civil rights movement and tells the story of Violet, a young broken hearted girl in her 20?s who was seriously disfigured as a child due to an accident caused by her father. Feeling ugly and unlovable she leaves her home town in North Carolina and sets out on a journey to Tulsa Oklahoma to visit a television evangelist who she believes can heal her physical scar. On her journey Violet encounters a number of people who teach her about the true meaning of beauty and love. Rehearsals Begin: The week of April 4. (Sundays - Thursdays, 7-10pm.) The place is Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692, after accusations from a few girls, which begins a mad hunt for witches that did not exist. A group of girls go dancing in the forest with a black slave named Tituba. While dancing, they are caught by the local minister, Reverend Parris. One of the girls, Parris?s daughter Betty, falls into a coma-like state. A crowd gathers in the Parris home while rumors of witchcraft fill the town. This opening scene ignites the mass hysteria in the town. Arthur Miller did not write it as a historical piece, but is based on historical events. Miller wrote The Crucible in 1953 during the McCarthy period when Americans were accusing each other of Pro-Communist beliefs. Rehearsals Begin: March 21: read-through. Varied during Spring Break, then set schedule after. Our current guitarist is moving over to vocals because finding an Ozzy has been tough to say the least (just a hard voice to do really). We are getting close to gigging and will probably gig about once a month. We practice one weeknight a week and it's been Tuesday nights but we could be flexible on that if needed. We also like to inject our own flavor into the songs while retaining the style and structure of the music so this isn't a note for note deal at all but we like it to be very close before add/subtracting have a full setup including a good tube guitar amp if you wish to use that. You should be able to check the ego at the the door and be good with constructive criticism as we all are now in the band. It'd be great if you had at least 2 guitars because some songs require C# tuning and some require standard. If interested,please contact us for more information.
