The plan is to do originals with maybe one or two covers, but mainly focusing on originals (as of now, I'm planning on sending out about 4 or 5 demos to get us started). We have two guitar players, a whistle/flute player, a bagpipe player, and mobile percussion, and really need a violin to round out the sound. We rehearse weekly on Wednesday nights, and perform within a 6 hour drive of Raleigh on weekends, one-two times per month during the season. Most of our performances are paid (with no plans to quit our day jobs). We mostly do this because we love the music. We are in the studio recording a CD in February-March. Most of the songs we perform are traditional, but we write and arrange some of our own music. You will need a costume, and we can provide you with one until you get established. We are looking for someone with excellent stage presence as well as great musicianship. You need to be able to improvise, quickly learn our repetoire of Celtic and Sea Shanty music, and memorize songs. If you can sing, that is also a plus.
