We were asked to open for a national act on August 17th at The Hut, so we're looking for a talented drummer around our age range to learn a few songs on the fly. I have a few songs created on my computer consisting of electronic drums/keyboards/and guitar only with others in the pipeline. Some of it has a clean/ethereal/guitar based feel to it while other stuff is electronic/dark/ambient/but ideally catchy. Most of it is too densely layered for me to nail live by myself so once I have a partner in crime in this project I/d like to expand it into a full-fledged live band. That won/t be for a little while though/ and not until I feel confident as a duo. If you play an instrument that will be a big plus in that department but not required by any means. What I/d like and what I/d like to avoid: - Experience working on other projects would obviously be a plus but if you can sing your ass off but haven/t been in a band I won/t say no. - I want someone who can write lyrics that are NOT run of the mill. I don/t have much tolerance for the emo scene/I'm not looking for any type of "female metal" vocals/ and I damn sure don/t want Ani Difranco in my band. Use your best judgment to see if you fit any of those categories. Which brings me to my next three points... - Please have a sense of humor! I come off as dark and cynical sometimes but I love to laugh/drink beers/etc. so please be passionate and have a lust for life! - Be able to work independently AS WELL AS collaboratively - I/ll want to practice and collaborate as much as possible on ideas but I have other projects and am usually a fulltime student so sometimes I/ll just need to throw you ideas and let you work on them solo. If and when more ladies and gents get recruited to make this thing go live the collaborative aspect will be important. But also... - Be able to take criticism, please! I hate nothing more than telling a fellow musician that an idea sucks/but if you/re trying something that doesn/t work I/m going to tell you so. 07-23-10 - Albuquerque, NM>El Paso, TX - About the Play : Written in 1939, the play originally starred Tallulah Bankhead as Regina. When it was filmed in 1941, directed by William Wyler, Bette Davis was cast as Regina. The Little Foxes concerns the machinations of the Hubbards, a nouveau riche southern family at the turn of the 20th Century. The Hubbards are your basic "capitalist pigs," having acquired their money by cheating customers and marrying into aristocracy (and the plantation that came with the deal.) There are some "good" characters in the play, but the Hubbards: Ben, Oscar, Leo, and most of all, Regina, are deliciously opportunistic and conniving. Think "Dynasty" and "Dallas," but in 1900. Long known as "a well-made play," it has elements of tragedy, humor, melodrama, and social commentary. It's a great script with great characters, good and evil. -- Project Type: Live Event
