We have a jam space and we have recording equipment about the same caliber as pro tools. We are just starting out and we are trying to make this at least a serious hobby. We try to meet at least once a week but as you can imagine, there's not much you can do without a drummer. You must be able to play with a double bass pedal as most symphonic metal requires it and be able to play in different time signatures. If music theory makes your head hurt, it's not a problem. Just so long as you can play, you'll be all set. The music is symphonic metal which is essentially death metal with clean vocals (think Nightwish, Within Temptation, or Dawn of Destiny if you have no idea who I'm talking about, google them).
