Feeling ugly and unlovable she leaves her home town in North Carolina and sets out on a journey to Tulsa Oklahoma to visit a television evangelist who she believes can heal her physical scar. On her journey Violet encounters a number of people who teach her about the true meaning of beauty and love. Rehearsals Begin: The week of April 4. (Sundays - Thursdays, 7-10pm.) Limited copies of the script are available at the theatre & may be borrowed for a limited time. Note: Auditions will be closed, meaning one person will be in the audition room at a time. A group of girls go dancing in the forest with a black slave named Tituba. While dancing, they are caught by the local minister, Reverend Parris. One of the girls, Parris?s daughter Betty, falls into a coma-like state. A crowd gathers in the Parris home while rumors of witchcraft fill the town. This opening scene ignites the mass hysteria in the town. Arthur Miller did not write it as a historical piece, but is based on historical events. Miller wrote The Crucible in 1953 during the McCarthy period when Americans were accusing each other of Pro-Communist beliefs. Rehearsals Begin: March 21: read-through.
