You need to be: caring (taking pride in the nuances of your playing), adventurous (who knows where this music will take us?), and dedicated (if there's one thing we've learned it's that music is very hard work). We make music as a team, so you must be able to work with other people. We have a MIDI controller (49 keys) and a computer you can use, but if you don't have your own equipment, don't bother. Ideally, we're looking for electric keyboard sounds (rhodes, etc) and organ sounds and generally beautiful and/or weird sounds. Singing is not required. You do not need to be a virtuoso, but you need musical knowledge, skills, and instinct. For the general musical arena we play within, think: Wilco, Beatles, the Band, Yo Le Tenga, Talking Heads, some blues sounds, some country sounds, some folk sounds, some rock and roll, some african influences, some jam sounds. It's all original material, no covers! It's really pretty unique as far as I can tell and hard to describe in words. But if you're in the band, it will be partially what you want it to be! That's the beauty of it. Our plans for the next year are to record our debut album (songs currently being developed for this), hopefully by mid summer some time, and also get to New York, Boston, and Montreal for some shows. Of course, we will be playing around Burlington as we see fit. We like playing the Monkey House, for example, and we've played Higher Ground and Metronome. We are currently having problems with finding practice space, so a car is a plus (we've been going to our bassists house about an hour north), and a free basement in Burlington is a plus-plus.
