Through love, he wrestles with his inner demons to break back into reality and reconnect with his concerned wife.
The filming will be in the middle of March.
As a student production we can't pay though you will be taken care of on set with free food, etc. Also the crew are some of the best creative minds I've worked with and we're looking forward to making a lot of noise on the festival circuit!

He has been officially diagnosed with severe PTSD and now must learn to adjust to life at home with his wife Rachel and their son David. It is obvious that his PTSD is far worse than expected; his flashbacks and hallucinations seem to sink him further into darkness and depression. After lashing out at his son during a hallucination, Kent seeks the help and advice from his father Jasper, a Vietnam Vet, who also struggled with life at home. Jasper is now at peace with his past and has learned to cope through his faith in God. Jasper shares his beliefs with Kent and explains how he must follow God in order to save himself and his relationship with his family.

Storyline Adam is trying to turn his life around before it gets away on him. He's done some time in prison, 3-4 years, for a history of misdemeanors that caught up with him in his early adolescence. He's trying to prove to the world, and himself, that people are able to change. He's one year out of prison, he has a culinary arts diploma from a community college, and he is currently working two jobs. At one job, he prepares meals for inmates at the correctional institution where he spent 4 years of his life...at the other, he washes dishes at an upscale restaurant. He's dissatisfied working at the prison...who wouldn't be, the hours aren't great, neither is the pay...and he'll never get a review for his culinary prowress because...his clientele are convicts. He is declined advancement at the restaurant based on his background...they don't want a recently released prisoner on the line cooking and he's a bit too rough around the edges looking to be exposed to the higher class clientele in the restaurant. He gets an opportunity through his job at the prison to cook a last meal for an inmate on death row...this affords him the freedom to test his skills as a chef on someone that will genuinely appreciate what he crafts. He finds a channel for his desire to cook...and learns that if he wants the world to give him a second look over, to look at him as a person rather than a statistic, he needs to start by doing the same for others. Adam empathizes with the inmates, and the stigma that exists that all of them are monsters, bad, evil or deserving of their lot in life. He pours his empathy, his passion and his frustration into the meal he makes for a man on death row. The story culminates with the creation of the dish. -- Project Type: Feature Film

SYNOPSIS
Breaking Bread is about Felix, a man in his early thirties, and his story of a coming home. This "homecoming" is rather unnatural to him and a great struggle. The viewer partakes in his day before having dinner with Else- his mother whom he is about to meet for the very first time.
Parallel to peaking into the day of Felix, Else is shown preparing the meal for the both of them. The events that take place at the same time reveal two different anxieties: One being that Felix needs to confront the mother whom he never had and the other being that Else wants to give birth again; to a relationship with "this"/ her son.
The getting together between the two is that of two strangers. Both have the intention to close a chapter in order to be capable of moving on in their lives.
Yet, while Felix needs this confrontation to help end a profound depression, Else wants to make peace with him before she does no longer have a chance to.
CHARACTERS
Felix- in his mid thirties, Felix is a pensive and restless man who goes through a depression. Felix grew up without family, having gone through different foster homes. While constantly questioning the reason for his mother's absence throughout his life, he remained unable to fill that empty space. Felix has a twisted relationship with his girlfriend Mia as he seeks a caretaker in her that she cannot provide.
Else- Felix' mother. She is in her sixties. Else left her son right after he was born. Why has no longer significance, she identifies with the action- not with the justification. After having left the conservative house of her parents, Else remained a run away. With her Minolta Else traveled much, loved many, and remained restless and often unfulfilled. Now, she is a lonely lady whose life has become a routine, alternating around grocery shopping, doctor visits, and walking through the city with the same old Minolta, but without film inserted. Age and bad health made a shaky woman out of her. This does not stop her from chain-smoking. She is a determined woman. Every choice she made or makes does not allow for regrets. Thus, Else has come to terms with the fact that she might not live for much longer. She has not come to terms with never having met Felix. He is the only check left on her bucket list.
Mia- Felix' girlfriend who is in her late twenties. Mia genuinely cares for Felix and despite his reoccurring motions of isolating himself; she has faith in their relationship. Nevertheless, she never seems to succeed in breaking through that invisible wall that separates them: Felix' past. Mia does not realize that Felix' relationship to her is rather odd as he seeks a replacement of motherly care. Mia has to leave him in order for Felix to be capable of ending this twisted longing by finally confronting his mother.
